Educating future leaders

Educating Women for Global Management is an international exchange project intended to assist students in acquiring the skills and knowledge required in global management, especially in issues related to women and management.

The project is a joint effort between Turku Polytechnic in Finland, Mälardalen University in Sweden, University of Strathclyde in Scotland, and University of Northern British Columbia, University of Regina and Northwest Community College in Canada. Funded by Human Resources Canada and the European Commission, this three-year project runs until August 2005.

The project combines classroom learning with work experience through internship opportunities in the public and private sectors. Students participating in the exchange share their experiences with other students, as well as faculty, staff and employers, through electronic communication and online resources, for example, by developing pages on the project website.

Educating Women for Global Management seeks to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of the nuances of cultural diversity, language expression, and social structures, as well as historical, geographical and economic conditions of the partner countries. These skills are in high demand among private and public employers around the globe.
