Caisa International Fair
The annual Caisa International Fair
took place on October 16-17 at the new premises of the Caisa Cultural Centre at Mikonkatu 17 C in Helsinki.
During the two-day event, over 3,000 visitors sampled food, exchanged information and admired handicrafts from over 50 organizations. Visitors were also treated to performances from numerous singers, dancers and performers.
Many different facets of culture in Finland were highlighted, including non-profit organizations, health agencies, volunteer organizations, government agencies, businesses and friendship societies. According to Caisa staff, the fair was a great success and the new premises of the Caisa Cultural Centre in the heart of Helsinki will certainly highlight the importance of culture in the lives of thousands of people in the capital region.
Carmen Boudreau-Kiviaho represented the Suomi-Kanada Seura during the fair, meeting and speaking with many interesting people, including several Finns who had strong ties to Canada. Others were surprised at the presence of the Suomi-Kanada Seura and had plenty of questions to ask! All in all it was a great opportunity and we hope to be there again next year.
